BULK AND YARD WASTE PICKUPS – MONDAY AND THURSDAY
For the safety of our public works employees, please adhere to the following guidelines for bulk and yard waste.
All bulk and yard waste must be bundled or bagged. Debris will not be taken unless it is bundled, bagged or organized as outlined below.
BULK PICKUP
- Bulk pickup is for a few items that are too large to fit in the trash can provided.
- Construction debris from contractor work is the responsibility of the contractor, not Tullytown Borough. The public works department will not take these items. Make sure your contractor hauls away their own debris.
- Debris from small do it yourself projects will be taken by the public works department.
- Debris or trash that can fit in your trash can should be placed in the trash can for trash pickup, not put out for bulk pickup.
- Bulk items that do not fit in your trashcan such as furniture, rugs, etc. must be placed on green belt in an orderly fashion and not tossed on the ground.
YARD WASTE
- Please use brown leaf bags for all grass clipping, leaves, small branches and plants.
- Branches should be bundled – 3 or 4 feet in length.
- There should be no more than 20 lbs. in each bag or bundle, or they will not be taken.
- No dirt or trash can be placed in brown bags. If either is in the bag, it will not be taken.
- DO NOT PLACE BAGS IN STREET. WATER-SOAKED BAGS WILL NOT BE TAKEN FOR PICKUP.
- Branches not bundled will not be taken.
- Place brown bags on green belt or apron of driveway for pickup.
PROHIBITED ITEMS
- Tires, gas cylinders, asbestos shingles, oil-based paint, propane tanks, chemical waste, appliances (refrigerators, microwaves, ovens, a/c units, washers, dryers, etc.)
- Old mowers
- Cardboard boxes/appliance boxes. They should be cut up and placed in your recycling can. We do not take them.
